PutSpot Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how MayRainSoftware (“we”, “us”, “our”) processes personal data in the PutSpot mobile application (the “App”). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read this policy.

2. What PutSpot does
PutSpot helps you quickly save and find where household items are stored. Most data stays on your device. Optional features—Google Drive backup, Pro purchases, ads, and diagnostics—are described below.
3. Data we collect and process
3.1. Content you create locally
When you use the App, you enter or generate the following information, which is stored on your device by default:
- Item names, tags, and location/area hierarchy
- Photos you attach to items
- Creation and update timestamps
- App preferences, such as theme, motion preference, language, onboarding status, and Pro status
This data is kept in a local database and app storage on your device. We do not create a persistent “PutSpot account” on our servers.
3.2. Camera, photo library, microphone, and speech recognition
When you grant permission:
- Camera and photo library: Used to take or choose item photos.
- Microphone and speech recognition: Used to turn short spoken phrases into search text or item names.
These support core App functionality. Speech recognition may run through platform-provided services; do not assume audio is never sent off-device—behavior can vary by device, OS, and region.
3.3. On-device image and text analysis
To improve item-name suggestions and search, your photos may be processed on your device, including:
- Image labeling and text recognition (OCR) via Google ML Kit
- On-device image analysis using AI / ONNX model files downloaded for Pro users
These features are meant to offer suggestions; we do not upload your photos to our own servers for these features.
3.4. Optional Google Drive backup (Pro)
As a Pro feature, when you sign in with Google and start a backup:
- Your item and location data and related photos are packaged as a backup archive (ZIP)
- The archive is uploaded to Google Drive’s app-specific
appDataFolder - A small metadata file, such as the last backup time, may also be stored there
You must sign in with Google and authorize Drive app-data scope. Backups are stored on Google’s infrastructure; Google’s privacy policy applies. You can disconnect Google in App settings; to remove existing Drive backups, use your Google account / Drive management.
3.5. Sharing
When you share an item, the system share sheet sends the item name, location text, and, if available, the photo to the app you choose. Sharing is user-initiated; the recipient app or service’s privacy practices apply.
3.6. Purchases
PutSpot Pro may offer options such as an annual subscription or a lifetime purchase. Payment is processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not directly collect credit card or bank details; purchase verification and subscription status are managed by the relevant store.
3.7. Advertising
On the free tier, Google AdMob ads may be shown. Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) and related consent flows may be used for ad personalization and consent management. Pro users may be exempt from ads.
Ad providers may process device identifiers, IP address, ad interactions, and similar data under their own policies.
3.8. Diagnostics, analytics, and remote configuration
In production builds, not debug builds, the following services may be used:
- Firebase Analytics: Screen views and usage events, such as search opened or backup succeeded, mostly aggregated and for product improvement.
- Firebase Crashlytics: Error reports that may include crash and device/OS information.
- Firebase Remote Config: Feature flags and configuration.
We do not aim to collect user content such as item names, photos, or backup contents in analytics and crash reports; event parameters are kept focused on product metrics where possible.
3.9. Model and update downloads
For Pro image-recognition features, the App may download model files and manifests from
mayrainsoftware.com. These requests are for file delivery; standard network information, such as IP
address and device/client info, may appear in server logs during download.
